On 14th May 2018, the public enterprises Electricidade de Moçambique, E.P. (EDM) and TDM/Mcel signed a contract for the provision of services for the Customer Service Centre, aiming to modernise the commercial services and increase the quality of the services provided to customers and to the society in general.

In the framework of the signed contract, TDM/Mcel will establish, in its premises, physical and technological infrastructures for the installation and management of a Customer Centre in an outsourcing regime, in the areas of customer care and registration of queries, telemarketing and provision of information about the services offered, registration and updating of customer information, amongst other aspects.

Speaking after the signing of the document, Dr Mahomed Rafique Jusob, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of TDM/Mcel, said that the Customer Service Centre of the mobile phone operator has to be maximised in its utilisation and it is in this spirit that they sign this important public-public partnership for the provision of services.

“It is not enough to have a political will to do things, there is another condition that we must have which is professionalism, efficacy, and efficiency and, above all, we have to produce fruits that make a difference with the partnerships of the other institution”, he stressed.

He also added that TDM/Mcel will be a big customer and partner of EDM, the reason why partnerships will be established in different forms, from sending messages, moving to data transmission and, mainly, the reorientation of forces, because the present agreement has a future of understanding the different directions of the parties involved about what is important.

Speaking in his turn, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of EDM, Doctor Mateus Magala, considered that the act represents the first step after the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies, in August 2017: “It is a public-public enterprise partnership based on principles of professionalism which have to be bankable, in a sense that the companies engage in it because there are some mutual gains in the efficiency, productivity and performance”, he said.

“We expect that the qualities of the Customer Service Centre of TDM/Mcel are felt in the customer that we are serving. I hope that our cooperation is blooming so that both companies are the flag of this country”- he stressed.
