Contador Convencional

The energy pre-paid or conventional electromagnetic electric meter is an instrument for measuring electric energy which is composed of a disc. Each electric meter has a typical placard onto which there is a number of rotations per Kwh.

  • Electric meter A – 600 Rot/kwh;
  • Electric meter B – 1200 Rot/kwh.

In the first example, to reach 1 Kwh, the electric meter disc must complete 600 laps to the axle, whereas in the second, for the same measuring unit, it must complete 1200 laps, apparently with a high consumption of energy.

In order to count the number of the monthly invoiced Kwh, it should be drawn the difference between two data collected within 30 days approximately.

The reading disc is a component turning in circle with a spot (black, blue or red) which is a reference point for data collecting.

The reading disc rotation direction shall be from left to right from a frontal view. The electric meter cover shall be made of glass with several important functions, namely:

Allow visualizing the electric meter numbers;

Prevent insects and powder from entering the electric meter which may interfere in the normal functioning of the reading disc; Prevent fraud through the introduction of strange objects without leaving any evidence.

Whenever the electric meter cover is broken, bored or it makes it difficult to read the data inside, the client shall contact the nearest EDM counter for substitution.

The electric meter is always placed in the vertical position and it shall have two screws adjusting it to the base and another one in the centre as to avoid possible incline.

Some electromagnetic electric meters have got decimal numbers and others do not. As a matter of fact the data collection must be done by trained people who can identify such differences.

The electric meter, which belongs to EDM, is supplied and assembled by EDM after the signing of the contract. Any intervention in the appliance is subject to a prior authorization by EDM.
